the sample ocean model will be taken part on south china sea. is it depth of ocean must include in consideration? and how i gonna to draw the part of the land near the ocean?

thanks and appreciate if you help and reply me

Dear Kuan Jew Xun.

I believe the Shallow water model will be good enough. I don't know about your task but I think it has area is about a few kilometers and water depth is about meters, so SW will be the best one. In this case you shoud have quite good computer. :-)

Regards, Ghirghidov.

thanks for your suggestion. by the way, the simulation will cover the area of Sabah, one of the state in Malaysia, which cover few hundred kilometer, while i haven't get the information on water depth. if the location is held near the land area, it might be few kilometer.

the main problem now i have to draw a certain location in Sabah, including the 10% of land and 90% of ocean. but i have no idea how to draw the complicated geometry of Sabah. what say you?

Dear Kuan Jew Xun.

As I understood right you could use 3D points topo file made by some other software like Didger (by Golden Software). Sometimes we use Civil (by Autodesk). Ussually we use our own software for digitization map (including onshore and offshore).

Regards, Ghirghidov.

Dear Ghirghidov,

is it the 3D points that we made can be imported to flow3d?

Dear Ghirghidov,

Sorry to bother you again. I asked my senior on how they build the terrain and ocean. They said that we used google earth and google sketchup. I tried to model 3D structure and it end up to save the structure in .kmz format. So is that anyway to convert and import that file to FLOW3D?

Alternatively, I used Autodesk AutoCAD. It able to save the structure to .stl format as FLOW3D need. However, I unable to important the .kmz format to AutoCAD too. Do you have any suggestion for me?

Dear Kuan Jew Xun.

What is лья format. Could you send me any file as an example (from GE of course)?
BTW is 3D Object converter able to convert your kmz file?

Regards, Ghirghidov.

Dear Ghirghidov,

http://www.esnips.com/doc/7eb17ad0-f...2af5e/Himalaya

You may download the example I tried in Google Sketchup. You have to open it through Google Sketchup. You can download this software at http://sketchup.google.com/

Basically, the model you saw in this example is directly taken from Google Earth. (Ignore this if i confuse you)

Google Sketchup able to convert to dwg format (AutoCAD format) if the version is Google Sketchup Pro. It required activation cost.

I hope it has alternative way to solve. You try this out and let me know soon.

Dear Kuan Jew Xun.

First of all. your file is in Chineese. F3D works only with English. :-)
As I understand it right the kmz file is archive. kml - is unpacked. I was not able to convert it to any editable format (autodesk or any other). I'll ask one guy who works with GIS technology.

Reagrds, Ghirghidov.

Dear Ghirghidov,

I am sure that the file is not in Chinese. It should be Himalaya.skp and only able to open up by using Google Sketchup in Google Sketchup, It can be exported to kmz format which is able to open via Google Earth.

I resend the Mount Himalaya 3D structure to your work and personal email. If you unable to view the structure via Google Sketchup, feel free to let me know again.

Also, I wait to hear from your good news
