hello,everyone!I have contacted FLOW-3D recently,when I have set all the element of wave and the intial fluid height,it preprocess well.But after
running,their is no wave,the surface of the water remains almost still.I feel
upset,and ask for help. thank you in advance!

Hi,

Check the diagnostic output in prpout file. Search for keyword 'wave'. It lists the wave amplitude,period and speed. Make sure it makes sense.

Who did you contact for support?

I had problem like that and i was solved, here i share of bc my wave

$bcdata
wl=6, iwavel=1, waveamp(1)=4., wavefre(1)=12.,
wr=8,
wb=2,
wt=5, pbct(1,6)=0., fbct(1,6)=0., $end
...
$fl
nfls=1,
fzh(1)=15., remark='initial water level', $end

thanks to Byongjun Park who has help me

Thank you

hi, iam willing to produce a wave in flow3D also. i wonder how if my mesh Cartesian is very huge:
nxcelt=10,
px(1)=40000., px(2)=1660000.,
nycelt=10, py(2)=990000., nzcelt=10,
pz(1)=20000., pz(2)=230000., py(1)=1.0,
Is it possible i produced a wave using this cartesian? Beg for any opinion and suggestion, thx.

Dear, keafer

you should more dense for long range like that
(nxcelt=10, px(1)=40000., px(2)=1660000)

i usually take the ratio of mesh about 1:10, 1:50, 1:100

its mean for 1 meter i devided by 10,50 or 100 mesh. hope this will help

Dear Has_ina
i not able to create the mesh according to ratio due to the x,y,z components for the 'STL' i imported are very large and fixed. So, if i reduce the mesh cartesian respect to ratio, the mesh block will totally occupy by the STL.
Any other method to overcome this?

Regards,kiefer

dont use auto snap to mesh, make it manually.. if the stl need more smooth use more dense at area stl placed..

dear kiefer

you can increase it with adding number of cell in meshing tab

Dear Hans_ina
i see, i will mek it a try. however, i doubt it that wat i had done , there is no wave coming out after i set the wave amplitude also. May i post my prepin here and beg some comment from u?
Regards, kiefer

u have use wave b/c at inlet and outlet as outflow (checklist the allow fluid to enter)
