Hi,
I asked this question in the OpenFOAM forum but didn't receive an answer, so thought to copy that here to see if it gets any attention. In a nutshell: I would like to know how the simulation results of OpenFOAM can be converted to a format that can be visualized in Flow-3D. Just wondered if anyone has worked with these two software and knows how. Appreciate any clue. |

Perhaps I should have done more research before asking a question here. But here is what I found so far. Please let me know if this will work as unfortunately, I don't have access to Flow-3D software at the moment to check.
In Flow-3D post-processing section says "FLOW-3D POST 2023R2 introduces support for an all-new results file format based on the EXODUS II format, enabling faster postprocessing." I checked Paraview and in "Save Data" I can see one of the file types being supported is "Exodus II", does that mean I can simply open the results if OpenFOAM in Paraview and save the data as Exodus II then open that file in Flow-3D? Appreciate any input. |

Hi. Flow 3D Hydro 2023 R2 can read EXODUS file format. However for faster post processing, its better that you open EXODUS files in Flow 3D Post 2023 R2.

Converting OpenFOAM simulation results to a format compatible with Flow-3D requires exporting the data into a universal format, such as VTK or CSV, which Flow-3D can read and process. You may need to use OpenFOAM's post-processing utilities like foamToVTK or create custom scripts to facilitate this data conversion.
