Hello everyone,
I am pretty new to Flow-3D and I am running a stepped channel simulation. Unfortunately my computer crashed when I was trying to analyze some preliminary results while the solver was on 47%. When I reopened Flow-3D, it shows that the solver is "Simulating": However, there is nothing in my queue; the solver elapsed time is frozen; and the queue summary says that is nothing running. Because I have been running the simulation for little less than two hours, I am afraid to restart the simulation from scratch. When I click on "Run simulation" > "Local", it says that the results file already exists, and it prompts me to either rename it, overwrite it or abort. How do I resume the simulation (add it on the queue again and resume it) without overwriting it? Thank you in advance for any guidance. |

Hi Bruno,
To resume your simulation, there are two ways of doing it: 1) Right-click on your incomplete simulation under Portfolio and select the option 'Restart From Simulation'. This will essentially duplicate your simulation and create a new destination folder for the output file. It will automatically use the last restart time step available from what has already been run, you can check this under Model Setup > Global > Restart Options. You can then run this to complete your simulation (Hint: I would uncheck the 'Reset time to zero' option under restart options when kicking off the restart simulation) 2) Go to your output file location (will be in documents on Windows, file extension .flsgrf) and move this to another location. Then head to your simulation, Model Setup > Global > Restart Options. Direct the model to the now moved file from the incomplete simulation and select the restart time. Now when you run the simulation, there should be no issue with a clash of output files Cheers |

Thanks a lot! I ended up restarting the simulation altogether but I'll give it a shot next time it happens. Cheers!
