hello my friends
I am trying to generate a linear (regular sinusoidal) wave in flow-3d
the wave specifications are as follows:
wave period: T=2.04 sec
wave amplitude: H=0.26 meter
water depth: h=3.5 meter
with above specifications, the wave length computed as 6.27 meter.
the flume length is: 31.35 (=5*6.27)
height of flume is: 5 meter
165 and 85 cells were generated along length and height of the flume respectively.
RNG turbulent model was selected.
I also checked the following box at the outlet boundary condition:
allow fluid to enter at outlet boundary
flow-3d version 11.2 was used
but as you can see, the generated wave is very unpleasant
could anybody please tell me "WHERE I WAS WRONG ?!"
thank you in advance

Are you generating the wave as shown below?

Hi, thank you for answering
yes, that is exactly the wave I would like to generate
Would you like me to get screen shoot from other setup windows of flow-3D ?
Or, If you give me your email, I could send you the flow-3D file.
This is my email: mahdy.pars@gmail.com
Thank you in advance

Dear friends

I want to investigate sediment transport in surf zone with flow3d. first, I need to learn how I can generate wave with flow3d and if it is produced bubble in my problem, can flow3d model these bubbles?
please help me to learn how I can generate different kind of waves and bubble.

Regards,
Matin.

Hi,

I am new to FLOW-3D and want to know if the question you asked had solved? If done, will it convenient for you to tell me?

ALL the best,
B-Crazy

First, try generating a pure linear wave without any additional solvers such as turbulence. It is hard to tell from the image what exactly the problem is.

hello
I want to generate a 2D linear wave and to simulate the air and water two-fluid behaviors.
The wave condition is regular wave with wave height of 1 m and wave period
of 3 s. The average water depth is 2 m.
I took photos of all the steps of generating the wave and sent them in the attachment. I don't know if my steps are correct or not because the generated wave is Nonlinear and abnormal. you can see in last picture.
I hope someone can help me, thanks.
