hello Dear friends;

i have been working on sediment scour caused by submerged jet using flow-3D software more than a six month.

I bought a system with the following properties:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6850 CPU 3.60GHz up to 3.80GHz processor and 16.0 GB RAM.

I paid a high price for it personally, but unfortunately, my computational time doesn't have much different compared with the laptop that i've worked with it previously. I bought the system to apply a finer mesh so maybe velocity profile simulated be consistent with the experiment.

Unfortunately, it takes a so great time with the new computer and is really boring.

i have one question that is unclear for me, Which characteristic( CPU or Ram) plays crucial role in simulation? i've monitored the CPU usage and RAM usage during the simulation, cpu usage was 100% in use but for the Ram it was equal to 2.60 GB. It means that the Ram is consumed only 1/8 of the total amount!!! Does it make sense???

would you mind, please guide me on my issue.

best regards
hamid

by the laptop, CPU & Ram are in usage 100% & 50% respectively as Compared to PC, A greater amount of ram is used.
