Sometimes when I run Flow3D models I find that the CPU usage oscillates. I don’t think it’s writing to disc during the low CPU usage periods, and there’s plenty of memory available.

Does anyone know what might be causing the low %PE?

I've attached a Process Explorer screenshot to demonstrate my problem.

Regards,

John

Not all models are parallelized. The solver may be switching between parallel and serial regions in the calculations.

The serial regions have been shrinking from release to release, but some remain. What version are you running?

I am using hydr3d version 11.0.1.03 win64 2014.

The model I am running makes use of nested conforming blocks. The processor usage seems to fluctuate less when using non-conforming blocks.
