I have a boat with force towards a monopile. The tip of the boat is stuck to the monopile while waves are coming towards it. I want to add static friction so the tip of the boat is stuck in all direction until the transverse and vertical frictional force reach a certain amount of force.

Is there any way to set a static friction coefficent? I know there is an option for it in the surface properties for a component, but it doesn't seem to work. I think that's only for fluids against a surface or am I overlooking something?

I am also wondering how to calculate the frictional forces at the tip of the boat.

Any help is much appreciated.

there are 3 different friction coefficient in this software:

1. go to : Model Setup>>Physics>>Viscosity and turbulence : part:"Wall Shear Boundary Conditions" and set "Friction Coefficient".

2.go to: Model Setup>>Meshing and geometry>>Component x>>component properties>>Surface properties>> "and set "Static Friction Coefficient".

3.go to: Model setup>>Physics>>Moving and simple deforming objects>>collision modeling : and set "Coefficient of Friction" (also this can set in: meshing and geometry>component>component properties>collision properties : and set it for just this component)

Depending on your model, you can use any of these cases.
