Hello All,

I plan to simulate flow in a channel. Can Flow3D add heat transfer from the air temperature into the water temperature in the channel?

Thank you

Then do you know how to do that?

Physics = heat transfer (1st or 2nd order). No fluid-to-solid transfer is needed.

Set Fluids > thermal properties > "heat transfer to void type 1" (HFLV1) as the heat transfer coefficient between air and water.

Set void initial temperature = air temperature.

Set fluid initial temperature and boundary condition temperatures.

---that ought to do it. If it doesn't work, check the User Manual for the version you are using.

Thank you for your help. Can I ask you something? In the "heat transfer to void type 1", it means the heat transfer coefficient between air and water. But which number should we use, zero means no transfer? one means totally transfer?

Units are [M T^-1 t^-3], so kg/K/s^3 in SI units. It's a heat transfer coefficient. All input variables are listed in the User Manual with their units. The chapter is called 'Input Variable Summary'.
