Hi all,

1 - Is there a way to change the simulation scale from iterations to time?
2 - I want to simulate a running lamp with an ambient of 100 degrees for 5 minutes only and get the results after 5 minutes. Is this possible?

Many thanks

Cameron

Hi Cameron,

Not sure what scale you mean?
Of course FloEFD can do transient simulations and you can specify how long the "physical time" shall be, in your case 5 minutes and after that the simulation stops. You can also specify the time steps, this is the physical time step per iteration. so if you run a 5 minute simulation and do 10s time steps then this is 10s per iterations and therefore 30 iterations in total.
This was just an example, of course those time steps would be too big for any good results.

So have you specified a transient simulation or did you mean the scale in the post processing such as in the goal plot in Excel?

Regards,
Boris

Hi Boris,

Thank you for your response.
I am trying to simulate the lamp at 100 degrees and find out what temperatures various parts of the lamp gets to after 5 minutes .
Therefore if I was going to do a physical test I would get an oven to 100 degrees, attach thermocouples in various places, place in the oven and take readings after 5 minutes of the lamp running in the oven.

Many thanks

Hi Cameron,

Yes, that is perfectly doable.
Did my previous answer help you or are you still having issues?

Regards,
Boris
