Hi,
I'm trying to model an assembly of some pipes joined together, when I try to check the geometry it's giving errors of invalid contacts (face intersection error0(Unresolved)) and invalid pairs between the different parts. What do these mean? Is it a problem caused by two of the pipes touching elsewhere (not where they are mated together). Or could there be a problem with how they are mated together? Thanks |

An invalid contact is a tangential contact like a line. The simplest form is a cylinder on a flat plat that creates a straight line as a contact. More complex contacts of such type can be shaped like an "S" or even more complex.
The simple types like a line or a point can be often fixed by the software automatically and would show as "resolved" or so in the comment to that contact. In order to show the issue you can click on the entry in the list of invalid contacts and it should show you the contact highlighted in the graphical interface of the model. The easiest way often possible to fix these issues is to either move the two geometries into each other by moving one into the other by only maybe 0.1mm or scaling it by a tiny fraction so there will be an overlap and not a line contact anymore. I hope this helps you, Boris |
