I have a 3D cad model of an existing runner in CATIA (.igs extension) ,l want to do an optimization process on it with Numeca/Design 3D so i have to convert it to .geomturbo format , what's the easiest way to do it?
I tried to do it using "import IGES" & "import & link CAD" options in Autogrid , but it doesn't work, could you tell me what is the problem? and is there any other way to do it? thanks |

"Geomturbo" format generates the blades through the points that define suction and pressure sides and also hub and shroud. So IGES or other formats based on lines and surfaces cannot be directly used to define geomturbo. Therefore you need some handy work in your 3D modeling software to exploit those points to generate your geomturbo file.

thanks for your reply hamid
I think it's easier to "import and link" my cad geometry in autogrid and then export it to .geomturbo format, i have done it for simple geometries (for example 2D geometries of hub & shroud) . but now my problem is to import the 3D geometry of whole runner in autogrid . when I import it in autogrid it doesn't do anything, maybe there is some problem about my geometry? Hi,
Maybe there is a problem with your geometry. normally autogrid accepts simple and basic shapes of blades. in case your model is sophisticated perhaps you need to simplify it. regards |

Hi I imported my geometry in autogrid finally. but now i have a lot of errors : "discontinuity" in hub & shroud or leading & trailing edge , leading edg or trailing edge "doesn't intersect" hub or shroud , "overlapping" ,etc! i am really confused! it seems that you are well familiar with this software , could i have your contact information for more help? (I am master student in elm o sanat university and i couldnt find anyone around that could help me on this software) Regards |
