Hello and good day everyone,
I'm now doing my final year project which involve CAESES and Numeca Fine Marine. I have problem with connecting these two software. I was told that I need to export the boundary subtract with the hull from CAESES in stl file. But when I import the stl file in Numeca Fine Marine, I can't do the meshing. I already check the manual but I can't seem to find the answer. Can anyone help me on how to start the meshing process. Thank you in advance. |

Hi,
Which version of Fine Marine do you use? What do you see in the graphics area when importing the STL? Did you make a STL definition that covers both the hull and the external boundaries? It should be a closed water-tight volume that encompasses all the domain to simulation, so not just the hull. Best regards, Colinda |

Hi Colinda1,
I'm using version 3.1.1 I attached a picture to show you the graphic area when importing the STL. I'm not quiet sure what you mean by STL definition, but when I import the STL file, at the cmd, it already show about the bounding box. |

Oh, that is a really very old version of Fine Marine of at least 7 years ago.
I would first recommend you to upgrade to Fine Marine 10.2 in the student version or 11.1 as provided in Cadence University Program (if the project is academic). The images seem to be ok, I can't see from those what could be wrong. What is it you observe when trying to mesh? What information makes you conclude the meshing won't work? Best regards, Colinda |

Dear Colinda1,
I didn't know that Numeca(now Cadence) offer student version. I just request a free student license. I actually does not know how to start as I usually use parasolid file. I tried to create domain after importing the STL file, and when I import it, it said there is critical problem with the domain. Also when I tried to start mesh wizard, it always stop by itself. Does this happen because it is an old version of Fine Marine? |
