Hi,

Sorry for the basic question but I cannot seem to find any guidance on this in the help files/tutorials.

After I suspend a solver (using pause not stop button), how do I resume from the same time step?
I copy-pasted the project folder after I suspended it, incase I mess it up.
If I simply push start in task manager it restats at Time-step 1.

So I closed that and opened .iec file in the copied folder where I can open the monitor window and see the 1600+ time steps already computed, but cannot figure out how to resume. It was a parallel computation with 8 partitions on a single machine.

Second question, at this stage if I try open CFview, the "results of computation are not available". is there a way to wrap up your computation at the point where it was suspended in order to post-process and view the results at that point? I did not setup any probes.

Thanks for your help.

Which solver are you using?

In general a restart can be performed by selecting an Initial solution from file and you select as the run file the one of the simulation you wish to restart from. That can be the same simulation but then it will overwrite so you did well to make a copy just in case.
You can also select to keep the convergence history of the previous simulation and append to it.

There are two ways to stop a simulation: in one case the solver will terminate abruptly without a save of the solution. In this case the solution may not be visible in CFView. The alternative is to suspend the simulation and wait until the solver has written a solution. Did you suspend within the coarse grid initialization or did it already go to the finest grid?
