Dear Numeca,
I am currently working on 6:1 3D prolate mesh in IGG software. With respect to this, I have created a semi mesh which I will export in Hexpress and do the complete mesh by rotation. Later, I will run the simulation in FINE/MARINE. Now, my problem is I have created a mesh using face and converted to block by "Block by face rotation" in IGG. In doing so, there is one boundary conditon which is giving me a problem. This boundary condition is taking a line as face. I have given this boundary condition as "Symmetry/mirror" and ran in Hexpress. The mesh seems fine. But, when I load in FINE/MARINE, at the pre-processing stage, it either shows mismatch or it runs showing that "There is a edge with zero length" . I have attached the pictures related to it. Hope you have understood the question and please help me resolve this. cfd_online_single_blockmesh.jpg cfd_online_single_blockmesh_line.jpg cfd_online_single_blockmesh_hexpress.png cfd_online_single_blockmesh_hexpress_body.png cfd_online_single_blockmesh_finemarine.png |

This way of creating a mesh is invalid as you understand from the message: it creates a face collapsed into a line.
It would be better to create a butterfly mesh in this geometry in IGG. This will avoid the need to put a singular line and give a good mesh quality. |

Dear Colinda,
I tried to use butterfly mesh for the same geometry. But since the butterfly mesh takes the shape of the parent block, it does not affect anything and also I had created the block using "block by face rotation". So, I tried to change the computational domin to rectangular. But for rectangular domain, I cannot cover the entire body domain which is shown in picture. I cannot add the vertex also as it will merge the lines. I am just trying to create the half domain so that I can rotate in Hexpress. I have attached photo the rectangular computational domain and the photo of body domain and highlighted where the line is missing. cfd_online_rectangular.jpg cfd_online_rectangular_body.jpg |
