Hi,
I have been trying recently to simulate the mixing of CO2 in air. To do that, I have created two blocks using Hexpress Hybrid, one containing each fluid. I also have put the proper fnmb conditions to insure that the flow through one block can get to the other. Thus, I have an inlet of CO2 and an FNMB allowing the CO2 to enter the AIR domain. Unfortunately, I am not able to see any mixing. I can see the speed gradiants caused by the CO2 entering the domain. Also, since the CO2 has a slightly higher temperature, I can see the temperature gradiants develop in the AIR domain. However, when I try to map the evolution of the GAMMA parameter (Ratio of specific heats), it remains purely constant in the air domain. I have seen that in the OUTPUT window, there is an option for multi-species output. However, I am unable to access it. It leads me to beleive that it is some type of flow model that I need to activate. Unfortunately, I have not seen this obtion anywhere. Can anybody tell me how to do a mixing simulation (multi-species simulation)? This would be really appreciated. |

Hello Richard,
I would suggest that you have a look at the User manual, section 9-9 "Multi-species Framework" (and Theoritical manual section 8-8) + Section 3-2.7. Also, it is not strictly necessary to create 2 blocks to run a multispecies simulation unless you need it for other reasons. You could define one block with the boundary conditions defined by means of OpenLabs. I hope this is useful. Regards |

First, I would like to thank you for helping. It is really appreciated.
Unfortunately, I am using a computer in my school's aerospace engineering department, and I have no idea where the user manual is. I have search extensively through the different folders of the computer and through the different servers available, but I am unable to find it. Can you tell me just the basics of this section, I guess I can figure out the rest for myself. Thank you again, |
