Hi,

I facing problem to use adaptive grid refinement when restart from my previous computation for resistance simulation on my ship hull with SST k-omega model. In adaptive grid refinement, i set the flow solver as below for calm water resistance:

Criterion: free surface (directional) with no impose a minimum cell size.
Grid quality: set 2 full criterion copy layers and 0 fraction layers. In addition, using longitudinal refinement in the boundary layer.
Box: i make the box using the criteria directional refinement only
Control: i use 25 time steps and number of partition is 1000000

In hexpress, i just make a standard mesh without putting a refinement box for the whole hull.

However, the computation keep fail with the reason job aborted and stopped by all blocks. Is it my setting on making the box cause the problem? Anyone has suggestion on these problems?

Thanks

Hi!!!

I have the same problem!

When I activate the grid refinement the simulation crashes!

Hi Francesco,

I think you need to do the local refinement in hexpress which draw the refinement box under adaptive section there then only can do the adaptive grid refinement. You may try it. Hope you succeed it.

Hi, I have exactly the same issue as Francesco:
Simulation crashes when AGR kicks in...
Tried in serial and parallel, both crash.

My setting are similar to PeiSan:
Criterion: FS directional with a certain target, no min size limit
Grid quality: set 1 full criterion copy layers and 1 fraction layers. In addition, using longitudinal refinement in the boundary layer.
Box: I make a box for all refinements around the ship, longer downstream
Control: I use 10 time steps and number of cells per partition is 500000
Advanced: I check: "base FS on smoothened mass fraction" and "Limit scalar product..."

Anyone found a solution to this?
