Creating a new Dataset on a part

Hello,
I have an interesting problem. I have a massive simulation, which I typically trim down by creating an isovolume which is slaved to some variable (and can move through time). This reduces my simulation domain by lets say several orders of magnitude in terms of cells. What i'd like to do now is create a new dataset that is slaved to that isovolume so I can find various parameters without having to carry around regions which are not interesting. For example, I want to create an isovolume which is 5 cm by 2 cm and grows to 5 cm by 3 cm through time. I want to find the average fluctuating mass fraction in y and then integrate this across x. I have been making a number of smaller iso-volumes across x to do so, but to do this I would need over 10k isovolumes (which my computational resources can not handle). Hence, I want to make the isovolume, then a database which relates the geometry to the mass fraction through time. I'd then save the database as a text file and do the correct calculations using those files. I'm sure there is a way to do this in ensight, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much |

So I was browsing the forum and saw something on how to export geometric identities. I think this is very similar to what I want to do, but instead of using clips I want to use an isovolume. Is there a "correct" method to do so?
Again, the information I want is a scalar value associated with the mesh for a small 2D area of my simulation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
