Hello,

I am saving the temperature fields of my transient simulation in the Ensight Case Gold format (Fluent 17.0).
If I stop and then re-start my simulation, the Ensight files saved after the re-start cannot be opened (I am using paraview). This is because after the re-start, the .encas file appends all the time steps (from time zero), whereas the .geo and .scl files only contain the time steps computed after the re-start.

The data is in the .geo and .scl files, but I cannot open due to this issue with the added time-steps in the .encas file.

Example of .encas file of the simulation until it was stopped

FORMAT
type: ensight gold
GEOMETRY
model: 1 1 Turbulence.geo
VARIABLE
scalar per node: 1 1 turb_kinetic_energy Turbulence.scl1
scalar per node: 1 1 production_of_k Turbulence.scl2
scalar per node: 1 1 viscosity_turb Turbulence.scl3
scalar per node: 1 1 viscosity_ratio Turbulence.scl4
scalar per node: 1 1 y_plus Turbulence.scl5
vector per node: 1 1 velocity Turbulence.vel
TIME
time set: 1 Model
number of steps: 124
time values: 1.00000e+01 2.00000e+01 (...) 5.65005e+03
FILE
file set: 1
number of steps:124

Example of .encas file of the re-started simulation

FORMAT
type: ensight gold
GEOMETRY
model: 1 1 Turbulence.geo
VARIABLE
scalar per node: 1 1 turb_kinetic_energy Turbulence.scl1
scalar per node: 1 1 production_of_k Turbulence.scl2
scalar per node: 1 1 viscosity_turb Turbulence.scl3
scalar per node: 1 1 viscosity_ratio Turbulence.scl4
scalar per node: 1 1 y_plus Turbulence.scl5
vector per node: 1 1 velocity Turbulence.vel
TIME
time set: 1 Model
number of steps: 130
time values: 1.00000e+01 2.00000e+01 (...) 5.65005e+03 (...) 7.65005e+03
FILE
file set: 1
number of steps:130

I tried to simply delete the unwanted time steps from the .encas file (those prior to the re-start) and change the "number of steps" flag. However paraview still can't locate the time steps in the .geo and .stl files.

Can somebody tell me how to modify the .encas file to access the data?

Thanks a lot!
Ignacio
