I want to see flame kernel growth in the ensight (Gasoline combustion in GDI engine).....I am using contour made with temperature but can't see the actual flame propagation....
How can I visualize my flame growth more effectively?
Kindly suggest.

You might try to create an IsoSurface of Temperature. I'd use a fairly high value of temperature, illustrating the growth of a rise in temperature through domain. (Select Fluid domain, click on IsoSurface (raindrop icon), and create IsoSurface with Temperature, and a relatively high value).

Do you have reacting species saved off to EnSight? If so, an IsoSurface of the product of the reaction would also help illustrate the propagation of the reaction.

Finally, you can use either of the above in conjunction with "Volume Rendering". This allows you to see a range of values (rather than just a single value with an isosurface). You'd again use the variables above, and reduce the opacity below the threshold, and increasing above the threshold of interest.

I have used IsoSurface and it works fine but Volume rendering as shown in Ensight manual [10.2.1] I am unable to make it .Yes I have reaction species in my converge but I don't know how can I use those reactions for visualization in Ensight. Can u make a small video for making volume rendering of flame kernel growth for a gasoline engine. That will be great help for me.....

Here is a tutorial on using Volume Rendering
https://www.ensight.com/wp-content/u...Rendering.html

You can exchange out temperature, or reactant species as your variable of choice. Adjusting the transfer function is very much a dataset dependent and greatly influenced by what you would like to show. There is not "exact" instruction for showing flame propagation in a unique model, so this type of tutorial is a close as an instruction can be on a generic model.

Hi kevin,
I have made volume rendering as well....but in ensight 10.2 version there is some problem with 2 transparent surfaces. Like my entire engine has transparency of about .15 and then if I make CO's volume rendering which is again transparent then it does not shows rendering properl....but when I switch off all the boundaries, I can see my flame kernel and reactants reaction temperature which ever I have selected.
While this not an issue with ensight 10.1.6 version. My firm has all the versions of ensight, so when I tried your tutorial in 10.1.6 it worked while for 10.2 version I have to switch off the boundaries to see the colors which are generated.
May be I am wrong, but this is my own experience about volume rendering in 10.2 version.
Thanks for helping me.

Thanks for the feedback, and the description of the issue. We've already found and resolved that problem with 10.2., and a fix will be available in the upcoming release of 10.2.1(c). It was a bug created when we changed the rendering scheme for EnSight 10.2, and was not caught before the initial 10.2.1(b) release was made in February. We are anticipating having 10.2.1(c) available in June.
