Hi everyone!,

i get this error message after creating a seal:
(Rank 3) WARNING: Something went wrong while cutting the grid in a cell centered at (-1.000001e-01, -5.000000e-01, 1.000000e-01). Searching for intersections in the entire domain...
(Rank 4) No intersections found.
(Rank 0) No intersections found.
(Rank 0) FATAL_ERROR: [3500] An unknown error was encountered while cutting the geometry at time 0.000000e+00.
The funny thing is that I had already created five similar seals before and they worked. As soon as I create the sixth seal, I get the error.

Can anyone tell me what exactly the error is and how I can fix it?

Thanks a lot!

Hi, which version of CONVERGE are you using? This might be a vertices alignment issue.

In old v3.0, the vertices between two geometries that we need to seal have to be perfectly aligned. However, after v3.0, the vertices need to be slightly misaligned. You can try to rotate one of the cylinders with a small angle to test if the error goes away.

Hi,

thanks for your help!

I rotated the cylinder a bit, but that didn't help.

General information about my geometry: It is a cylinder with a total of 6 side valves (3 intake and 3 exhaust). I was able to seal the first 5 valves directly, but the problem only occurs with the 6th valve. Actually, everything is symmetrical.

We may need to take a close look at your geometry and case setup. The information here is limited. Please contact your local converge support or at support@convergecfd.com with your geometry and questions.
