hello.

I am trying to analyze a hydrogen direct injection engine using CONVERGE.

I am trying to inject gaseous hydrogen, but I know that the gaseous fuel in Converge needs to make an injector shape and inject hydrogen through the mass flow rate.

I'm trying to interpret the spray pattern by changing it conveniently. I would like to analyze gaseous hydrogen while changing the settings of the injector using the spray model used when spraying gasoline in the GDI engine.

Or if there is a way to easily change the spray pattern and interpret it, please let me know.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Thank you for your question. Few pointers:

-the gaseous hydrogen you are trying to inject need not necessarily come in through an injector. You may set it up through an inlet boundary of your choice and it can be through a pressure boundary condition as well (of course you may have a varying mass flow rate profile too).

-as you are injecting it as a gas, you do not need to use the spray model. You may simply inlet it through a boundary. An example of this is Sandia Hydrogen engine case (File->Load Example Case->Internal Combustion Engines->Hydrogen Spark Ignition-> Sandia Hydrogen DI Engine SAGE Transient RANS

Hope that answers your questions. If you need us to look into your case in detail, please email us at support@convergecfd.com

Hi

What version of CONVERGE are you using?

I used versions 3.0 and 3.1 and the version I used had it.

I think the reason there is no hydrogen engine example is because the version you are using is low.

I recommend contacting the place that distributes CONVERGE and upgrading the version to 3.0 or 3.1.

Hi,

There are only input files remaining in V3.1.
You can access them and import them back using File > Import Case Setup >choose a directory from:
Program Files > Convergent_Science > Example Cases > 3.1.4 > Internal_Combustion_Engines > Hydrogen_spark_ignition ...

Regards,
Amin

Hi Amin.
Yeah, I found it.

I need .cvg file but as you said, that is just input files.
