Hi,
I'm using either VOF-HRIC or VOF-PLIC method to simulate a pressure swirl atomizer which the geomitry of is similar with the one in the vidieo "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr8hKmZ8IZI". Howerver, the absolute presuure inside the exit orifice is negative and there isn't a air core in my result which is inconsistent with the experimental results. Could anybody show some cases setup about the pressure swirl atomizer? Thanks for respones. HengLiu |

Take a look at the below paper which talks more about pressure-swirl atomizer modeling in CONVERGE. If this doesn't help either, please contact your local CONVERGE support and they will help you with your simulation.

Thanks for your reply.
I once read this paper, however there is few detailed VOF coupled with HRIC setup information about pressure-swirl atomizer modeling even the geometry's size. Before posting here, i have sought help from local CONVERGE company "IDAJ".They simulated a pressure-swirl atomizer about two years ago and got similar phsical fields wth mine which also couldn't catch the sustained air core. I doubt some unsuitable constants in my setup files that cause the bad ability of VOF method. And i notice there are two Youtube videoes about simulation of pressure-swirl atomizer which can cpature the air core well ("https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wr8hKmZ8IZI" and "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un1n4NQo6TE". So i wonder if you can attach some case setup files about them or show more information about how to capture the air core in a pressure-swirl atomizer using VOF method in CONVERGE. Best regrads. Hello,
Please email your case setup files (*.in and *.dat files or *.cvg file) to support@convergecfd.com and we will take a look as to why the central air core is not being formed. Make sure to send the email using your work or university email address. We cannot reply to you if you use your personal email to contact us. |

hello,Liu Heng,
I recently read your paper "A one-way coupling approach for simulating in-nozzle flow and spray characteristics of a pressure-swirl atomizer", when I reproduced the experiment of Milan with CONVERGE, I also encountered the same problem --I found no air-core in my simulation results. So I want to seek your help. Looking forward to your reply. Zhang Jinyu |
