Hi,
I'm trying to execute a cold flow simulation, the geometry (made in CATIA) consists of a circular plate with rectangular/circular holes in it. Although the geometry is fine in CATIA, when I import it to converge it gets distorted and has many open edge errors. Kindly refer the attached figure. Patching/stitching is a very laborious process as it has many open edges and even if i try to patch/stitch, the number of open edge error increases and additional overlap error appear. Kindly help me with this. Regards, Asher |

is it a 1D geometry or has it a thickness?

Hello Asher,
Are you importing your geometry (as a *.CATPart file or any other native CATIA formats) using the "Import CAD file" option in v3.0 CONVERGE Studio, which leads to such issues? If so, I would recommend trying the following alternative options: 1. Try exporting your CAD geometry from CATIA as a STEP (or IGES) file and import it in STUDIO using "Import CAD file" option. 2. Try exporting your CAD geometry from CATIA as an STL file, and import it in STUDIO using the "Import STL" option. If you still continue to face issues, and you are using our latest version of CONVERGE Studio, please reach out to us at support@convergecfd.com. Please use your official email for all correspondence with Convergent Science. Please mention the issues you are facing, attach your CAD file, if possible, and add the cfd-online thread, as reference. Hope this helps. Sincerely, |

Thank you for your suggestions. I am using Converge v3.0; the following are my observations, 1. I have tried exporting the geometry as *.CATPart, *.igs and *.stp from CATIA and import it into Converge Studio v3.0 using the "import CAD file" option. However, the open edge error persists in all cases. 2. I have also tried to export the geometry in *.stl format from CATIA; importing it to Converge Studio v3.0 leads to the same open edge error. As suggested, I will mail the issue to Converge support along with a link to this thread. |
