Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to simulate Laser Ignition procedures by
Converge Studio.

In fact, what I want to do is to simulate Laser Ignition by
Converge Studio and compare it with Spark Ignition procedures.

If it is possible to do so, what are the required hypotheses and assumptions that I need to take into consideration for the simulation?

Hi Jalal,

If you can neglect the ionization of the gas species, then you can simply use an energy source placed where the laser beam is focused onto. But if you think the ionization of the gas should be modeled, then this model is not currently available in CONVERGE. There is an alternative route for modeling high fidelity laser ignition though. You can use Vizspark for modeling of your thermal arcs induced by laser ignition - https://esgeetech.com/products/vizsp...lasma-modeling

CONVERGE has the capability of syncing with Vizspark via UDFs to pass the CONVERGE flow field data to Vizspark and obtain the calculated energy source from Vizspark to be deposited in the CONVERGE simulation.

You have to be more specific and tell us what physics are important to model for you so we can better help you with it.
