Hi everyone, I am a new user to Converge and when I was trying out some simple cases, it appears that the geometry manipulation window gets stuck after a relatively complex geometry is imported. To continue the setting up, I have to restart the converge studio. When the geometry becomes too complex, I can simply do nothing... Could anyone suggest what I can do under this condition? I am using converge studio v2.3, running on Windows 10, 64-bit system.
Thanks so much! |

Hello Chen,
The more triangles you have in your *.stl/surface.dat file, the more the memory usage while working on STUDIO. Please monitor the memory usage of your machine and if this is the case with your geometry, please consider importing a *.stl file with lower triangle count/coarsened geometry. Also, once the geometry has been imported, you can turn off EDGES in Visible Items to reduce memory load while working on STUDIO. If possible, switch to a machine with higher available memory. Hope this helps, Sincerely, |

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have actually monitored the memory: I believe that my memory gets enough space (I am running on an 8GB memory machine and it seems that at most 60% is occupied). Also, my computer also runs other softwares like SolidWorks, etc. with very good performance... I guess there could be some problems with my settings instead. Actually, I believe that the problem comes with the GPU. The GPU 3D usage is well below 10% for most of the times, but sometimes it randomly spikes to 100% and it corresponds to the failure of the program.. Regards, Sihe Chen |

Hello Chen,
If you havent's tried this already : If you have OpenGLv3.3 or above in your machine, launch CONVERGE STUDIO through the terminal with -n argument. This will enable a faster rendering method. Syntax : ./CONVERGE_Studio -n If you still face issues, you can send your geometry, if share-able, to support@convergecfd.com and we can have a closer look at it. Sincerely, |

Thanks for the reply. However, I have already tried both -n and -o commands and neither works for it. I believe the problem is probably with my hardware... I will try to update it and see. Thanks so much for your help! |
