Hello!

I'm currently doing a engine simulation using the ECFM model. I realize that even the simulation running fine I'm getting the warning 0364 WARNING: it = 1, WARNING ... extrapolating on the temperature calculation and then the timestep is reduced to the minimum allowed by my setup.

I would like to know where is the code extrapolating the temperature. Is it on the TKI file?

FYI: I'm using Converge 2.4.19.

BR,

Filipi

Hi,

In CONVERGE, we actually solve the energy equation and use a look-up table to get the temperature. If the energy equation is not well converged, it may fall out of the range of the table and the extrapolation has to be used then to get the temperature. It normally doesn't matter how the extrapolation is performed, but the fact itself indicates that there is something wrong in solving the energy equation. It can be associated with multiple reasons. One of the most common one is the insufficient grid resolution where the velocity/temperature/pressure, etc., changes abruptly. Also, large CFL number can cause it.

If you use screen_print_level >= 2 in inputs.in, the locations where this error occurs would be shown in the log file and you can check the 3D post file for the specific reason.

Is there any way to change this look-up table?
Can I at least see this look-up table?

No, you can't view or modify it since it is hard-coded internally. The problem is not the table but the convergence of the energy equation. You need to check the case setup and make sure everything is reasonable. If you can't resolve it, please send a request to support@convergecfd.com. Thanks.
