Hi,
I would like to know which Wall type boundary conditions do I need to set for velocity, temperature, tke and omega when using the automatic wall treatment function for K-omega models, more specifically the automatic wall function with Wilcox's low Re corrections. Thanks |

What application is this? Could you please give some details?

Flow through the inside of a rotating cavity with small fins on the wall perifery for cooling enhancement. The fin size and gap between fins force me to refine the mesh enough so I can have enough elements to resolve the flow though the gaps. This leads to y+ numbers at the wall lower than 30 where the law of the wall is not applicable giving me wrong heat transfer numbers. From what I know, the automatic wall treatment function available with the k-omega models is apropriate for my problem with an appropriate range for y+ between 3 and 300. I don't have enough computational resources to refine the mesh enough at the wall so I could use a no-slip boundary condition. I don't find in the manual how to properly set the boundary conditions in the boundary.in in order for converge to use the automatic wall treatment. Thanks |

You could specify the option of automatic wall function in Studio under Turbulence Modeling --> Near Wall Treatment --> Automatic wall function. Also, for the given wall you could use law of the wall option for velocity/temperature and wall model for omega. Please let me know if this helps.
