Hey folks,
for my bachelor-thesis I have to simulate a journal bearing in comsol. A force acts on the bearing and the bearing may move relative to the shaft. Anyway, both, bearing and shaft may be rigid (if easier to calculate). The fluid is a standard oil and always separates bearing and shaft. I want to simulate the minimal needed amount of fluid without the bearing failing from heat or stress. Now my question: which physics modules do I use, I think I need fluid-structure interaction, but I donīt know how to apply the force on the bearing and the rotation of the shaft.. I also donīt quite manage to design a proper inlet and outlet for the oil.. Thank you for your help, Pac |
