Hello everyone
I hope you are doing well.
I'm running a three-phase simulation in COMSOL using the Phase Field method with deionized water, a 70% glycerol-30% water mixture, and oil as immiscible phases. The two-phase setup converged successfully with consistent initial values, but adding the third phase leads to the error:

"Failed to find consistent initial values. Last time step is not converged."
I’ve tried these adjustments:

Mesh refinement, especially near phase interfaces.
Smaller time steps in the Time-Dependent Solver.
Relaxation of solver settings and tolerance adjustments.

Despite these, the issue persists. Are there specific settings or further modifications in phase interaction parameters that might help stabilize the initialization for three-phase flow? Any guidance would be highly appreciated!

1. consider improving phase interaction parameters such as surface tension and viscosity ratio.

2. initializing the phase field to a distribution closer to the expected one and increasing the number of solver iterations can also help stabilize the simulation.
