Anyone know how to do this? I want to mirror a contour, but the mirror transform retains the original contour.
I cant rotate the contour (which doesnt retain the original copy) becuase it is a 3D object with different contours on the front and back side. Rotation just shows the other side of the contour, which is not what I intend. |

Sorry to reply to my own post, but would like to remove one other method someone might suggest. I tried rotating 180 degrees with face culling, which almost works, but shows unwanted interior geometry, so that can't be used.

A Clip Plane could hide the original copy, but it would hide everything else too. Do you need to retain some bits of the original geometry?

The reflection plane cuts through the center of the body, so a clip plane doesn't work. But that does give me an idea, I could mirror and translate a large distance and zoom in to exclude the original body.
I will give that a try, thanks! |

Just as an FYI, the translate and mirror doesn't work. Any other ideas appreciated.

This is pretty horrible but you could export the contour line as XY points then do the mirror yourself and then re-enter it into CFD-Post as a points. If nothing else works this might do it.

Horrible is the right word for that!
I dont think that will be practical in my case. I am generating eyecandy movies for upper-ups and wanted the front and back side of the item pointing in the same direction (I am using a 2 view window to display both at same time), and thought someone might have something quick and clever that would work. I will probably end up generating it without the mirror. |

As an FYI to the forum. Got word back from CFX and this behavior is a bug. They are hoping to have it fixed in V14.5
