Default Plotting a contour of the turbulence production term in CFX-Post

Hi,

So as the title says I want to plot a contour of the turbulence production term from the k-w SST k and w equations (see first picture). I want to do this to look at the magnitude of the the production term in certain curved areas so I can compare the standard SST model to the SST model with a curvature correction applied. In the curvature corrected SST model, the production term is simply multiplied by a factor (f_r)(see second and third pictures), which I would also be interested in plotting as a contour, so I can see the magnitude of that multiplier everywhere in the domain.

Since the production term is just a function of the mean flow velocity gradients and the eddy viscosity, I was planning on just creating an expression in CFX-Post and plotting it that way. But once you expand the production equation, it gets quite long. Can anyone recommend an easier way that I could do this? Or has anyone done this before using another software?

Also, can anyone recommend a way to plot that f_r term? It seems like it may be very complicated to write as an expression since it has all those min and max operators.

Thanks,

-Kevin

I cannot think of any other way of doing it other than writing out the whole equation. If you contact CFX support you may be able to hook into it directly somehow so worth giving them a call.

Thanks for your quick reply Glenn! I will see if I can get in touch with CFX support.

Hello Kevin!

I have the same issue. How have you solved this problem?

Hi Marco,

As far as I remember, I ended up just creating a custom variable in CFX and plotting it that way. Best to break it up into parts.

Best of luck,

Kevin
