Hi everyone,

I've been simulating a multiphase flow for a while (free surface type), but I can't find anywhere further information about CFX's discretization method of volume fraction equation, only that is a "unique compressive discretization scheme for the calculation of phasic volume fractions".
I know this method is not the reconstruction and propagation type normally used in VOF formulation, but I just can't find any reference more specific about this method.
Besides, I realized the variable "interface compression level" used in CFX seems to be very similar to the "slope limiter value" used in compression scheme for VOF in FLUENT.

Anybody knows if they are just the same?

I would appreciate any help,
Willian

It is a proprietary scheme I understand so is not public described in detail. It is the same as the compressive VOF scheme in Fluent - it was ported from CFX to Fluent for the last release. The best I can suggest is it is similar to the HRIC scheme from Fluent, but my experience in Fluent confirms it is better than HRIC.

Yes, now I can understand why I can't find the following reference anywhere:

Zwart PJ, Scheurer M, Bogner M, Free surface flow modelling of an impinging
jet. In: ASTAR international workshop on advanced numerical methods for
multidimensional simulation of two-phase flow. GRS Garching, Germany; 2003

Anyway, I'll take a look on HRIC scheme.

Thanks for your help Glenn
