hi to all,

am doing a coal combustion simulation. In that is there a patch needed to ignite the volatiles in CFX13 (in EDM combustion model)? Now am using wall temperature as high to start the combustion.

thanks in advance

Combustion modeling is not plug and play. You will never be sucessfull without a basic understanding of the modeled physics and chemistry and how it is formulated.

Guess in the template for coal combustion EDM is used. EDM works by source terms in the species transport equation and this term does not use temperature or energy. How shoud it feel your temperature increase?

This is done by fluent and other codes in similar way. It does not help to change the code. You have to work in to the details by reading some books and do an extensive training or course.

Good books are Warnatz (*), Maas and Dibble for beginners. For Phd students I would recommend Poinsot and Veynante.

In order to become combustion modeller who is able to work on his own you require a 2-3 month work in and 2-3 years work together with a combustion expierenced advisor.

Not to do so will end up in chaos and failed projects for 98% of the students and young cfd engineers.
