Re-meshing a deformable solid body in a fluid

Hi,
I am trying to do a transient two-way FSI simulation in which there is significant motion of a deformable solid body through the fluid region. I have tried to increase the mesh stiffness, but eventually the mesh folds because the displacement of the solid body is too big and it's too close to the fluid wall. So my only option now is to remesh when the angle of the "walls" of the mesh approaches some small value. I have seen that this can be done automatically using ICEM CFD Replay. However, as I understand it, this method is for when the solid body is rigid. Since the solid body I have deforms, I have to do a "User Defined Remeshing". 1. Can someone explain the process of how to do this, or point me towards a tutorial as I have found nothing on this subject? Thanks 2. is it possible to put "unspecified" for the mesh motion along the fluid walls and arrive at a solution? I tried this and it said "The connection between this CFX process and an external process has died unexpectedly" Thanks |

Hi
your problem is my problem ,too. My problem is two-way FSI simulation with ICEM CFD in ANSYS 13 for transient simulation of movement deformable body in ANSYS CFX. please use time step condition for remeshing. for example use remeshing condition for 2 timestep when you want inter intrupt condition for remeshing. |

please use ANSYS 12.1 for this simulation.
remeshing with ICEM CFD 13.0 is a big problem for connection between CFX process and ICEM CFD. |

Remeshing and 2-way FSI with CFX-ANSYS cannot be used together.

If you are using the 2-way infrastructure (MFX) then no remeshing. If you're just running a single solver with a pre-defined load that came from mapping the structural results then you can do remeshing.
