Error when trying to import a CFX-Mesh into CFX-Pre

Hi,
I have to disclose that I am an absolute newbie and this might be a silly question... I am working through one of the CFX tutorials, but I can't seem to import the mesh I created into CFX-Pre. (I am using version 12.1 of Ansys workbench and CFX-Pre.) I created the geometry and mesh as described in the tutorial. Ansys workbench shows that both elements are valid and up-to-date. When I launch CFX-Pre, the mesh file doesn't load and instead I get the following error message: *** CFX-Pre Application Error ERROR It was not possible to extract any mesh from the file: /home/Research files/CFD/Tutorial/Tutorial_files/dp0/CFX/MECH/CFX1.cmdb. Please note that a Workbench installation is normally required to import this type of file. *** When I try to import the CFX-mesh file instead, I get the following error message: *** ERROR It was not possible to extract any mesh from the file: /home/Research files/CFD/Tutorial/Tutorial_files/dp0/CFX/CFX/Fluid Flow.cfx. *** I have tried starting a new project and importing the geometry and mesh files, as well as rebuilding the geometry and mesh files from scratch, but it didn't help. The solution might be obvious, but I assumed that carefully following the tutorial instructions should prevent errors from happening... Thanks, Audrey |

Not sure what is causing your errors, but perhaps you can try going up to File->Export->Mesh and export it as a Fluent mesh (*.msh) file.
Then in pre, choose import mesh and import it as a fluent mesh. |

Thanks for the suggestion, singer1812. It was a bit fiddly, but it worked. If anybody has any idea what was causing the errors in the first place, though, I wouldn't mind finding out...

It was a beginner's mistake: I had a space in one of my folder names... ("Research files"). Apparently, that trips up CFX on Linux really badly.

I was able to resolve the error by updating gtmDSDBReader.exe that was missing.
