Hi,
I have a question about how to export data from cfx-post. I already have *. res file. Then I have the coordinate of the points set (x, y z, in *.txt file). I would like to have the velocity and pressure information at these points. How should I do. I tried to make a *csv file with the point coordinate file, then import into cfx-post. but It does not work. It says "Error Invalid contents of file for importing data, or type can not be determined". So what's the problem? Do anyone have other way to get the flow information of the coordintes? Any comments will be appreciated. have a nice day! |

The files you had used for cfx-solver (def and res) files are sufficient for post processor too.
If you can tell me the version of CFX you are using, I can help you out |

Thanks a lot.
I am using CFX-11. I was thinking to generate a csv file with all coordinates, then import to cfx, finally export with coordinates and flow informationl. but it did not work like I said. I am thinking may be I should use session file, but not sure how to do it. Please give any comments. I will appreciate it very much. |

i HAVE DONE THIS JUST RECENTLY-
IF U HAVE ALL YOUR X,Y,Z AND U WANT TO KNOW THE VELOCITY AT THESE POINTS GO TO location-polyline-choose from file- this will read all your points into a single entity called polyline 1-then u can get the velocity and pressure at these points but first u need to change your text file to something like this-if we have 16 points for example-hope it helps 0.45 0 0 0.45 0 0.01 0.45 0 0.015 0.45 0 0.02 0.45 0 0.025 0.45 0 0.03 0.45 0 0.035 0.45 0 0.04 0.45 0 0.045 0.45 0 0.05 0.45 0 0.06 0.45 0 0.07 0.45 0 0.08 0.45 0 0.09 0.45 0 0.1 0.45 0 0.11 #Lines 0-15 |

Thank you, al mazdeh.
It works well for a polyline. But if I have a 2D field and there are many point on the area (I have the coordintes in the txt file). For sure it will not work on polyline, so what should I do. Thanks :-) |

just add another column for z and define Z as zero-then use polyline
