Hi,

Is it possible to do CFX simulation of Rayleigh Taylor fluid instability. I have to match my experimental result from simulation for various inputs.

I need some guidance to create simulation using CFX as its given in the animation below

http://fluid.stanford.edu/~fringer/m...onvect/rt.html

Thanks in advance Dinesh Kumar

Hi,

Yes, it is possible. Some hints - use second order time and space differencing; do a mesh, timestep and convergence sensitivity study to check these parameters are OK; and finally get access to a big computer to run it on as it is going to take plenty of computing power.

Dear Glenn,

If possible can you please write the hints in a bit details or mail me at dkverma.iitk@gmail.com . As I never did simulation I just went through some easy ANSYS tutorials. Basically my work is experimental and I am interested to do its simulation using ANSYS.

Thanks Dinesh

Hi,

Work through relevant tutorials, read the documentation, have a look on the CFX-Community site for relevant technical tips, have a look in the literature for what other people do. I am not going to summarise 15 years of CFD experience in a "how to CFD" guide, I don't have the time.
