Hi,

I am trying to simulate an oscillating sphere submerged in water. I have used inflation in my mesh and I am using laminar option in my model in CFX (ANSYS11). I want to do a contour plot of the values of y+ to check my mesh in CFX-Post. But when I look for the y+ variable in CFX-POST to represent it I can not find it. I have read all the turorials about this subject but I can not find y+ in my list of variables. I can represent wall shear and force over the sphere surface but not the y+ value. Could someone help me? Thank you very much for your time.

Román

Y+ is used for assessing wall functions in turbulent flow. You don't have turbulence model wall functions in laminar flow!

CFX has probably recognised that as you are using laminar flow you will not need this data, and has not produced it, to save you disk space.

With laminar flow I think you should be checking the number of nodes inside the boundary layer. There may be other recommended checks too, but they don't come to mind just now... (I'm deep in the middle of a SST model and laminar calcs are currently pushed to the back of my mind.)

Regards, Andy

Hi,

Do you know how to check whether there are how many nodes inside the boundary layer?

Thanks
