validating turbulence model on flow around a car

Hey
I need assistance as I must validate the turbulence model I´m using for the flow around a car. As for now I made all the simulations with the SST, and I have made the comparison by making these again but with the K epsilon model. I took notes of the aerodynamic coefficients Cd, Cl, and velocity profiles in several streamlines around the vehicle. I compare them against each other and see no big difference but I believe this is not enough for succesful SST validation; they must be compared to another model of known solution. I read in the archives about the ahmed model but I fail to understand the way you use it to validate your own car. APART from experimental data comparisons, how do you validate the turb model? Thanks! |

Hi,
As you mention, there is plenty of good data in the literature on the Ahmed body. This body is specifically designed to be car-like, so if your model does the Ahmed body well it should do most car shapes well. Regards, Glenn Horrocks |
