Has any one solved conjugate heat transfer using Ansys for solid body [radiation model from Ansys] and fluid flow in CFX.

Dear Harish,
Are you having any problems? Yes, ANSYS CFX can solve conjugate heat transfer and radiation in the fluid side, or on the solid side, or both. Opaque. |

Dear Opaque,
I know that Ansys CFX can solve conjugate heat transfer with radiation. here i will explain my problem setup. A thin solid body is being heated by radiation and over it there is a fluid flow which is at low temperature so the thin solid body losses heat by convection. here i am interested in finding the temperature field in the thin solid body. to model radiation from the source [ since the fluid is transparent to radiation and solid is opaque] i must use monte carlo method only which is computationally expensive. to overcome this i want to use the radiation model available in Ansys and to model fluid flow i want to use CFX. to couple the two fields [solid and fluid] i will use Ansys Multifield solver and unidirectionally transfer heatflux from the solid to fluid. has any one tried this procedure or is this the right way of handling conjugate heat transfer [ i mean solid body temperature field is found by using Ansys and fluid temperature field is found by using CFX. harish |

Dear Opaque,
I have a general question regarding Radiation in Ansys CFX. let us say that a material is being heated by radiation and at the same time losses heat by convection [fluid is flowing over it which is at low temperature]. Assume that this material is rotating with certain RPM so mark an element[ which is on the thin solid body]. since it is rotating, view factor of the element changes and so does its convection heat loss. My question Is the radiation model in Ansys CFX coded to take into account of rotation of body when the radiation model is activated. harish |
