how can i model a gas solid fluidized bed with ansys cfx? i dont have injection of particles but a static bed at minimum fluidization velocity i can not define solid particles in the domain

Hi Mohamad

You can set your bed through solid volume fraction initial Condition. You may use CEL's step function such that

step((z-0.5[m])/1[m])

assuming your gravity parallel to z and bed heigth (from z=0) of 0.5 m.

Hope this helps

You gonna give this expression a name, right? So you can write it in any space through out the setup where the "root of alpha" buttom is present.

For this particular case you should go in Global Initialization (or in Domain tab called Initialization), change the option of solid volume fraction to 'Automatic with Value'. Then click on "root of alpha" buttom and write the name of CEL expression. It is pretty easy.

Good luck.
