Dear CFX Users.
I am a Brazilian student and I started a PhD at Aston University - UK this year. I intend to use CFX to simulate a Downdraft Biomass Gasification Process, but I am new in CFD's World and I need some advice. Then, I will appreciate if anyone give me some advice. My best Wishes. Antonio Oliveira |

Hi,
My advice: Read the CFX documentation sections relevant to what you are modelling. Do lots of tutorial examples and go to training if possible. Go to the CFX-Community website on the ANSYS webpage and you will find lots more tutorials, tech notes and studies into many areas. When you start doing your own simulations start with simple models either with analytical solutions or good quality experimental results to validate against. Things like the 2D lid-driven cavity are good to start with, progressing to flow over a backwards facing step and so on. Some time spent getting the basics right will mean you have a good grounding for more advanced work. Anyone can get pretty pictures from CFD but to get useful and accurate results takes skill, time and practise. Glenn Horrocks |
