Post processing information in particular zones

Hello everybody. I'm having a problem. I want to calculate the average velocity in a specific part of a piece that has a complicate geometry. If I use a plane I can't set the bonds I want and I'm taking some zones that I don't want to include in the calculation. What should I do? Is the only possibility to put a surface in the geometry before mesh creation? I'll be waiting for your help. Bye.

I see what you mean, I had the same problem to calculate the mass flow at certain locations of my domain. I spent a lot of time trying to use the perfect bounds of my plane to not include other geometry. Finally it worked, but I don't think it's very practical to use planes and I don't understand, there must be another options but I don't know wich so that's why I'm joining your post.

Can you describe more precisely what defines the bounds you wish to use? Is it a geometric location, a function of the results, etc. There are some solutions that may not be immediately obvious (which I have posted before). The answer depends on what exactly you are trying to do.

Yes- it would be nice to have a "until boundaries is met" option with the planes cutting multiple domains. But the trick is to create a contour plot and colour it with a coordinate. Then create a new user surface based on that contour, and do the math on that plane. Try it out, you may have to change the numbers of contours on your plot and change the range of the scale as well, but it works! -Dr. Flow Squad http://tinyurl.com/2gkjh8
