Hi There,
I am planning for LES with wall functions for flow over a 3D inf cylinder, Re 10000, with CFX11. I am not very sure how many points I have to use in boundary layer, near to the cylinder, for these models in CFX11. If you have an idea, Could you please give me a good reference? Is there any other better turbulence model for this kind of simulation? Thank you very much in advance. |

Hi,
I assume you are trying to model the wake structures. The SAS model in CFX does a pretty good job of this type of flow. However, expect to do plenty of validation work to get it accurate. Glenn Horrocks |

Hi Glenn, Thanks for information. Any sort of reference for SAS model and grids would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Hi,
There are some papers on the CFX Community site about it. Also ask your CFX rep as they will probably have some additional stuff on it. Glenn Horrocks |
