Hi I create a point cloud in the domain. I want to make a translational copy of this point cloud in CFX post.

Is there any option?

Thanks, Fatih

You can move the point cloud (version 11) by editing adding a translation in the View panel of the cloud object. If you want multiple copies, create an Instance Transform and under the View panel, set the point cloud to use this instance transform.

Thanks,

I have used this option. But the problem is when I want to export some information from the translated point cloud, I see that the point cloud is not translated(just like a visualisation trick).I got the original point cloud.

I also use this for a user surface definiton I defined a surface by transforming it from the view menu When I performed operations(like point definitions on this surface) there is no effect Points are defined on the original surface

I wonder why?

Thanks

As you said, this is only graphic reproduction. The data is not replicated. For that you will have to calculate the coordinate transformation yourself.

Hi again,

What I want actually:

I have a hole in the geometry. I want to define a rectngular shape around the hole. I need the coordintaes of points in the hole. I can do that by extracting the rectangular point cloud- exported coordinates of the point cloud around the hole. Because CFX export doesnt export any information for any point not defined on the domain.

There should be a way? Or CFX is not so flexible?

Thanks, Selim

I'm not sure I understand. Do you need the hole coordinates to define the rectangle? The following sentence makes no sense: I can do that by extracting the rectangular point cloud- exported coordinates of the point cloud around the hole. Can you please clarify this?

hi Robin,

i want to fill in the hole with points and extract the coordinates of these points.I realize cfx export can extract only points defined on the field.if I define a surface far away from the hole and define point cloud on this surface and then traslate these to the hole I can obtain what I get.A hole with points defined inside.

BUt I solve the problem.Instead I translate the surface(There is option for new surface creation through translation) and then I defined point clouds on this ntranslated surface.

It is now OK

Thanks for your replies
