Dear all,

I am a new research student, now I am doing a modelings of plate in water, while I met lots of troubles in using ANSYS.

The problem description: A rectangular plate fully immerses in water(static, no flow), the plate does the free vibration or forced vibration, now the objective is to extract the natural frequencies and mode shape of this plate in water.

Are there someone did the similar modelings before, could please provide some information(webs, books, tutorials are all fine) about this kind of problems.

I really cannt find some documents which discuss how to do this kind of problems by using ANSYS.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

So far, I did a mdoeling according the example of VM177, and use three-layer elements, the top is fluid element (FLUID30), the middle one is the plate(SOLID45), the bottom layer is same with the top. And choose the ansys solution type is modal analysis(ANTYPE,MODAL).

The problems I involved as follows: -a. all my result are zero. -b. Is my modeling and methods as showed above correct? -c. May you offer me some more information/articles about this kind of problem. So far I got very few documents discuss this.

stumpy is on a distinguished road
This is a really old thread, but it popped up in a google search since I'm looking to do somthing similar (modal analysis in water). This doesn't involve CFX, but it's something people want to do before performing a 2-way FSI analysis. See the following:
