icem: import tecplot mesh

Hi,
I have an (x,y,z) point .dat file with first two lines written as: VARIABLES = "X","Y","Z" ZONE I=16, J=2, K=99, F=POINT I am able to import this mesh into icem cfd 10.0 using the import mesh -> from tecplot (it recognizes that 1 domain is created with 3168 nodes). My problem is that I cannot create a .uns file so I am unable to use the ANSYS CFX solver to export the mesh. Questions: 1. do I require an addon to invoke the edit -> struct mesh ->unstruct mesh command (right now it says that I don't have any structured domains in the project) 2. must I create blocking? and if so, how would I proceed in importing a tecplot mesh? If this doesn't make any sense, please advise that I generate the mesh using blocking as I seem to be wasting my time at this point.. Thank you kindly David |

Try File > Save Mesh As and see if it lets you save it as unstructured or structured. Then re-load that and see what you get.

I am able to save as .multiblock only.. I've noticed that whatever I try (directly going to, or re-loading the mesh file) that when I select Info -> Domain File, it says that no domain file is loaded.
I suspect that the problem I have revolves around the .dat file that I'm importing as this isn't the File -> Write Data file that Tecplot creates. However, when I try to import the Tecplot file to icem (.dat or .plt) I get the 'not able to read file. marker =299' error. |

Best bet is to contact your support provider on this one. You can probably send them the mesh file and have them figure out how to use it.

Thanks for the help.. I think I'll just create the mesh from blocking though as it's really not all that complicated.
