Hello,
I am working on the 2-way FSI simulation, and this involves multifield function in CFX. I perform my case based on ANSYS 19.0.
However, what comfused me is that no "ANSYS Multifield" option can be selected in "Analysis TYPE". In "help", it shows that I can find "ANSYS multifield" option in "Analysis type". So, if multifield function should be activated by some command in ANSYS 19? Is there anyone who knows it can help me? It is really comfusing... Thanks a lot!!

Have you done the FSI tutorial examples? They are available on the ANSYS Customer webpage and academic portal. They show the basics of setting up simulations.

Also note that to do FSI simulations you need a license which supports both CFD and FEA. If your license does not support FEA then the FEA options will not be visible (or the FSI options along with it).

Thanks for your reply, sir!! Actually I have set several two-way FSI cases based on ANSYS 16 and 18. In both versions, the CFX has multifield option in same place. However, in ANSYS 19, I can't find it while its help shows that nothing has been changed in multifield function.

Besides, I perform FSI in workbench, which contains CFX and structural parts, so I think that this problem may be unrelated to license.

Opaque will become famous soon enough
Did you look into the documentation for CFX-Pre/Analysis Type options?

As far as I recall ANSYS Multifield was superseded by the System Coupling approach, and deprecated @ANSYS CFX 19.x. Do not recall the exact release number.

I also understand the previous cases still run in recent versions, but newer cases cannot be setup using the ANSYS Multifield approach.

Thank you! It certainly is! I had thought that ANSYS CFX can run FSI independently, so I turned to CFX. Unfortunately, version 19.0 has abandoned this function. I really regard multifield as a big highlight of CFX. Really a pity...

There is an alternative approach: System Coupling using CFX.

Use the System Coupling option at the corresponding boundaries, and the workflow should be similar.

It is my understanding that using System Coupling you will have access to more complex element formulations on the ANSYS side, as well as newer elements not supported via the Multifield approach.

Yeah, I have started a two-way case already. Now I understand what you have said and system coupling makes ANSYS's logical structure more rigorous. THANKS so much!
