Can I use icem cfd to generate a unstructured grid and export the grid with a star-cd data format. Becasue my flow solver is an in-house code, it is difficult for me to specify boundary conditions in my flow solver. So I need do it using icem cfd, and get a file named *.bnd with related information of boundary conditions. How Can I implement this job in icem cfd. I would appreciate your advice. Regards, Harry

Nobody has such exeperience? Or I did not express my question clearly? In case, I change my discription, hope you can undertand my idea. I mean how can I assign a boundary condition to a cell of grid through ICEM/CFD. I would appreciate your help. Regards, Harry

Hi Harry,
Well, ICEM is a mesher and not a preprocessor for BC definition (or did you see any tool in ICEM to set BCs?). I think you can't get around without using another module e.g. like CFX-Pre to set what you want. Regards Tobi |

In ICEM CFD: Output > Select Solver > StarCD Then click on the Boundary Conditions icon and you can set types and values.

Thank Myron for your advice. In fact I have done it like the method mentioned by you. but I can't get my defined boundary conditions in the file named *.bnd. However, according to the following website, http://www-berkeley.ansys.com/interfaces/starcd.html, *.bnd is the file for boundary conditions. So Maybe I miss something? When I export my results, only the option "all boundaries" under "boundaries to write" is choosed, I can get the *.bnd file. but my specified boundary condition is not included in the file.

Make sure you save your project and that the .fbc file (an ASCII text file) you specify when writing the Star files has the boundary conditions you specified.
Best bet is to contact support at your support provider or techsupp@ansys.com. |
